The Citadel Council did the Unthinkable -- they Grounded The Normandy. Put Her In Lockdown. Forbade them from going to Ilos. They. Have. No. Idea.

Anderson sees the bigger picture. Anderson once was what Shep is now, and frankly he still is. He's a highly decorated soldier, N7 & Captain, fought unimaginable battles in war. Was going to be the First Human Spectre himself (until Saren - talk about Full Circle.... And some serious Revenge!). And like Shep - He's willing to do what it takes, not what he is ordered to do. And Bottom Line? He trained his Protégé and former XO well.

So... when he suggested outright mutiny (A Court Martial Offence and Treason, obviously) Shep was absolutely up for it. They're a skeleton crew and her team. Joker is more than up for it - positively delighted to be going and sticking it to the Council.

So. Anderson does what it takes to get the Normandy released (and Udina finally gets what's Quite Frankly been coming to him the entire game...!). 

Whatever the cost. They're Somehow GETTING. TO. ILOS.

Even if it means a suicide drop in the Mako. But Shep Always Trusts Joker. Always will.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition - ENDGAME - The final SHOWDOWN The Battle of the Citadel Continues, with Saren now in their sights. Shep tries to talk him down... But by breaking some of the indoctrination, Saren realises what he's done & puts a gun to his face. 

He falls through to beneath where the platform to The Council Chambers... and Shep [wisely] tells Wrex & Liara to go down to check he's actually dead. 

Wrex takes precisely ZERO Chances... And shoots him in the head himself. Unfortunately... Saren had allowed Sovereign "Upgrade" him. So, the Reaper "Activates" the implants and brings what's left of his exploded, zombified corpse. 

So, Then... Shep, Liara and Wrex have to face off with Sovereign-Saren. 

Alliance Takes Out Sovereign with Joker front and Centre with Normandy. 

They succeed and Sovereign is destroyed, falling from his place, attached to the Tower. The Tower Crushes in on itself... And Shepard is buried under the rubble with her team. Anderson & Alliance soldiers find Liara & Wrex... But Shep seemed crushed by the debris. 

Thing is... It's going to take a LOT More Than That to kill THE Commander Shepard. Baddess Ass In The Citadel. 

After, The Council Asks Humanity to Join Them, after the Alliance saved the Council. Shep has no problem recommending her former Boss and Friend, Captain Anderson.
