Once Liara is freed, the mine and ruins start falling collapsing... but a Krogan battlemaster who has been paid to eliminate Liara try to kill them instead of getting out. Shepard's team is able to eliminate the mercs and escape just in time, then escape in the Normandy.
With Liara aboard the Normandy, she helps make some sense of the mystery of the Protheans. She also admits to being being "only" 106...
