Shepard heads back down to the Normandy Main Battery to speak to Garrus. He seems to be more back to normal now... more relaxed. She talks to him about the mission... secretly is does worry her. There isn't really anyone else that she can talk to. Back on the old Normandy, she had Kaidan... even Ash. But now... There was only Garrus here, right now, that she could really trust.

Garrus discusses how serious and risk-filled missions are dealt with on a Turian ship... with full-contact sparring. Apparently, there wasn't anything against fraternisation either... by the story he told anyway. He tells her a story about a female scout getting rather under his skin, and sparring to the point where they couldn't take each other out... until they took it to their quarters for a "tie-break".

After everything they had been through... after Sidonis... after the way she had started to see him in a more... affectionate way... Shepard takes his telling Garrus' story about his "reach" and the scout's "flexibility" in their "tie-breaker" as some warm flirting on his part. So she takes a chance... She wonders aloud whether they could perhaps hold a "tie-breaker" themselves in her own quarters, to let off some steam.

Garrus is quie taken aback - he has quite clearly not exactly thought of this before - it has certainly never occurred to him she might see more than a Turian in him when it came to such matters, or want more from him than his loyalty... But when faced with it, he couldn't be more happy than to acquiesce to her offer.

What surprises Shep though, to her pleasure, is that he takes it far more seriously than she first intended it to be - which was no more than a quick "stress-reliever" after Sidonis. It turns out he thought far more highly of her than she expected... probably explaining why Garrus didn't put a bullet in Sidonis in the end.

He is willing to look into it more, into how it should be done, how it would work -  physically - between them. His word of "definitely" rings in her ears long after he says it... with such absolution and warmth. Finally, she now has something to look forward to, in what is appearing to be a much shorter secondary lifespan than the first...
