Promoted to Staff Commander, Kaidan Alenko is out in the colonies, on Horizon, trying to fix a problem with the AA Tower guns being installed there by the Alliance. Just as he is walking with Lilith, one of the colonists (who he may seem to appear a little too attentive to...), something appears up in the sky... and it isn't long until he recognises it.

What she doesn't recognise is the swarms of mechanical insects attacking them. She watches as they paralyse those around her, then just as suddenly she is their next victim. The colony of Horizon is being attacked by the Collectors.

Commander Shepard has dispatched to Horizon by the Illusive Man, and arrives just as the Collectors have begun to harvest their paralysed victims, interrupting their work. The seeker swarms are still everywhere, but Mordin has attempted to make armour modifications to counter the substance used by the flying bots to paralyse. In theory.

Apparently Mordin is very interested to see if they work and whether you actually survive. Comforting...
